The Hon. Minister G. Gunness carried out a site visit on Tuesday 26 August 2025 at 14:00
hrs to assess the progress of works being executed by the Contractor, Beijing Construction
Engineering Group, under the supervision of Luxconsult (Mtius) Ltd.
The project, which commenced in October 2022, forms part of the Government’s strategy to
modernise road infrastructure and improve traffic flow in the region. With an expected
completion date in September 2025, the works are now at an advanced stage. As of August
2025, the physical progress stands at 95%.
During the visit, the Hon. Minister interacted with representatives of the Contractor and the
Supervising Consultant. He was apprised of the various stages of construction that have been
completed and the few outstanding works that are currently being finalised. These include
road finishing works, landscaping, and safety installations.
The Hon. Minister expressed his satisfaction with the rate of progress achieved on site. He
also highlighted the importance of timely completion so that the public may benefit from
improved connectivity, reduced congestion, and enhanced road safety.
The project is expected to bring significant socio-economic benefits once operational, by
facilitating smoother traffic circulation, reducing travel time, and supporting regional
development.
