Reconstructed Takamaka Bridge in Vacoas opens to traffic

The newly reconstructed Takamaka Bridge on John Kennedy Avenue in Vacoas was officially inaugurated today, signifying the successful completion of a major infrastructure project designed to enhance road safety, strengthen flood resilience, and improve connectivity in the region.

Delivered ahead of schedule at a cost of Rs 21.7 million, the project forms part of the Land Drainage Master Plan and is expected to significantly mitigate flood risks while providing safer and more efficient travel for residents and motorists.

The bridge was inaugurated by the Minister of National Infrastructure, Govindranath Gunness, who reiterated the Government’s commitment to the timely delivery of quality infrastructure projects. Also present were Ministers Jyoti Jeetun and Mahendra Gondeea, who commended the early completion of the project and expressed their appreciation to the public for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction period.
