The Minister of National Infrastructure, Mr. Govindranath Gunness, inaugurated a newly constructed footbridge this morning at Les Casernes, Curepipe, replacing an ageing structure that had deteriorated over time.
Constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 3.7 million, the new footbridge measures 11 metres in length and 1.2 metres in width. It significantly enhances pedestrian safety while improving connectivity between Impasse Tuyau, Sir Edgar Laurent Street, and Route du Jardin.
Construction works commenced on 04 March 2026 and were successfully completed on 01 July 2026.
