The Minister of National Infrastructure, Mr Govindranath Gunness, announced the reconstruction works of the Takamaka Bridge along John Kennedy Road B65 during a site visit held in the presence of all relevant stakeholders.
In his statement, Minister Gunness explained that the main purpose of the visit was to bring together all stakeholders to brief them on the works to be undertaken and the implications on Traffic flow due to the road closure for the execution of the works
“This project is long overdue, and we need the approval of the Mauritius Police Force and the Municipal Council of Vacoas-Phoenix before starting the reconstruction works,” he said. The Minister further emphasized that the objective is to begin the works as soon as possible, taking into account the scheduling of school examinations and the Maha Shivaratri festival.
He added that the reconstruction works are expected to last four months, with completion targeted for December this year
