CONSTRUCTION OF HERMITAGE BYPASS

The construction of a new road at Hermitage over an approximate length of 2.2 km comprises of a bypass of 1.5km from Aurea Morcellement to the existing Cote D’or Road (B48) near Belle Rive and the upgrading of approximately 700m of existing B48 road to Belle Rive Roundabout on B6 road.

The Cote D’Or Road (B48) connects amongst others the regions of Belle Rive, Hermitage and Motorway M3. The road passes through highly built-up residential areas and is characterized by very poor geometrical alignments including poor visibility. The road along Hermitage is narrow along several stretches with sharp bends. Consequently, this poses serious road safety concerns.

Furthermore, with the construction of the National Wholesale Market at Wooton on B6 Road, the traffic load is also expected to increase in the region.
