The Sivananda A venue and the Palmerston junction are already operating at full capacity, with heavy congestion during peak hours. With the implementation of the Metro Express Project, the Sivananda Avenue will be converted into a one-lane road and existing junctions at Vacoas and Palmerston will be signalized to synchronize metro and vehicular traffic. This will cause even more road congestion and lengthy waiting time for road users. Therefore, the Road Development Authority has decided to construct a new carriageway along the existing Sivananda A venue and an Interchange at Palmerston junction to alleviate the congestion problem.
