The Slip Lane at the junction of St Paul Road (B4) and Nalletamby/Pere Laval Road (B69) at Vacoas is officially reopened to traffic as from 14 30 hrs on 03 December 2025. An inauguration ceremony was held the same day by the Minister of National Infrastructure, Mr Govindranath Gunness, in the presence of the Junior Minister of the Local Government, Mr Fawzi Allymun and Chairman of the Road Development Authority, Mr Seewoonarain Koonjul.
In his statement, Minister Gunness highlighted that the slip lane will contribute to alleviating the traffic congestion in this region and reduce travel time for commuters traveling from the region of Floreal towards Port Louis. The Minister indicated that assessment is being carried out to identify other possible road improvement works in the vicinity.
The project was awarded to Gamma Construction Co. Ltd on 22 November 2023 for a total contract value of Rs 10.2 million, funded by the Project Development Fund. The scope of the works involved excavation of the road to address the cave issue, installation of drainage systems, reinforcement of the road structure, and resurfacing over the collapsed section.
