Terre Rouge Verdun Link Road Treatment of landslides and remaining road works along Southbound carriageway at Ripailles

The Terre Rouge Verdun Link road consists of a dual carriageway of length 15.735 km. In the region of Ripailles, some sections have experienced widespread landslides during the execution of earthworks at time of construction. As a result, traffic from Valton towards Ripailles was accommodated on two lanes of the right hand side carriageway over 2.5 km pending the completion of remedial works and construction of the road on the left hand side. The geological and geotechnical context of this section is very variable with relatively thick overburden comprising of fine soils with little gravel. The bedrock rises abruptly locally. It is divided into four distinct zones, namely zone D4, D5, D6 and D7.
