The aim of the project consists of the construction of a new bridge and realignment of the existing road which would improve the road safety aspects for both pedestrians and to fluidify the traffic flow.
The project will consist of the reconstruction of the Joli Bois Bridge and the realignment of approximately 400 m of the road in the vicinity of the existing bridge. Additionally, it will also involve the construction of culverts and drainage structures and the widening of the road where required. The existing bridge is a stone structure with its deck being supported by 1 beam and consists of major defects. The beam is in advanced corrosion, showing signs of weakening and sagging. The road alignment along the bridge consists of two successive sharp bends. Therefore, both the existing bridge and the road geometry represents a potential hazard for vehicles as well as for the pedestrians.
