Inauguration of Pierrefonds – Cascavelle Link Road

Pierrefonds – Cascavelle Link Road inaugurated on 18 December 2025 by the Hon. Govindranath GUNNESS.

This project forms part of the East–West Connector, a strategic corridor designed to improve connectivity between Plaines Wilhems and the western region of Mauritius. With rapid population growth, tourism development and Smart City projects in the West, the need for a reliable and efficient road network has never been greater.

This new road provides a safe and efficient alternative route to and from Flic-en-Flac, significantly reducing congestion on existing roads. For commuters, residents and businesses, this means shorter travel times, smoother journeys, and less stress on a daily basis.

The project comprises approximately 5.2 kilometres of modern road infrastructure, designed to allow future upgrading to a dual carriageway. It has been built to high standards, with proper shoulders, full road markings and safety equipment, a continuous cycle lane along the entire route, and the installation of solar-powered street lighting throughout the project, ensuring safety at night while promoting clean and sustainable energy use.
